Whey Concentrate vs Isolate

test 7 years ago updated by andy 7 years ago 2

Unless your prepping for a competition or suffer from lactose intolerance, what are the real differences between whey protein concentrate and isolate, and what would make you use one over the other?

Answer
andy 7 years ago

IMO go with a good MIX like MTS Nutrition Machine Whey. Concentrate is more intact keeping the benefits of whey. The more you filter it the less cool stuff it has. That's why I recommend MTS Whey even though I make an isolate!

Adequate Sleep

Randi 7 years ago updated by andy 7 years ago 2

How many hours of sleep do you believe is optimal per night for muscle recovery? Also do you believe in taking supplements to help with sleep such as ZMA or Melatonin?

Answer
andy 7 years ago

Sleep is essential for everything, mental and physical performance!

ZMA in my opinion is a waste if you have a good diet and take a multi and melatonin can help. Keep an eye open for the new MTS Nutrition Machine Sleep Aid coming soon!

Amount of sleep needed is individual, but generally 6-9 hours.

Meal Frequency & Timing

Randy Baker 7 years ago updated by andy 7 years ago 2

You always hear the idea that you should eat every 3 hours, including protein. What are your thoughts on the eating every 3 hours philosophy? It is completely necessary to do this? OR does it really just boil down to your macro numbers at the end of the day?

I know Mike Rashid is only eating once a day at the moment, and that sparked my interest for this question.

As long as you hit macros, it makes little difference. BUT I believe eating one meal a day is not optimal at all

Taking a Break from Stimulants

Mike86 7 years ago updated by andy 7 years ago 3

Hi Marc! I have been taking pre-workout supplements 4-5 days a week for the past several years. I never felt the need to take a stimulant break, as my body still responds nicely to caffeine, DMHA, DMAA, etc. Is there a rule of thumb you use to taper off of stimulants? If so, how long do you recommend taking a stimulant break for?

Answer

Honestly, if you still feel it there is no need. But generally speaking a week every 12 weeks will keep your sensitivity high

Nutrient driver

Hey Marc, I was planning on getting Nutrient Driver and I was wondering 1. How long do the effects of this pill last 2. When do you normally take it as in before breakfast lunch or dinner and 3. I take one scoop of Carb 10 before training around 1 PM, should I take it then and will it last the remainder of the day

Vacuum maneuver

Zac P. 7 years ago updated by Marc Lobliner 7 years ago 3

Hey Marc, So Arnold and all of these other bodybuilders go on and on about doing the suction or vacuum stomach as a core workout but in your opinion would getting in a plank position and then doing the vacuum maneuver be more effective because you rely on your core more in the plank position rather than standing up and doing the vacuum. Thanks!!

Pre-workout nutrition and macro combinations.

Emilio Lopez 7 years ago updated by Marc Lobliner 7 years ago 1

Hey Marc, Emilio from Spain here. I want to know what should I eat pre-workout, I usually take fast digesting carbs and some protein depending on how my macros for the day are. On the other hand there are some people that say I should take slow-digesting carbs like brown rice and Im kind of lost and need your help thank you. Also, I heard that you want to take fats and protein at breakfast and on your last meal and carbs and protein during the day; what's your take on this?? Thanks Marc

Free weights vs machines

Josh D 7 years ago updated by Marc Lobliner 7 years ago 1

Hey Marc, what is your opinion on machines vs free weights? Do feel one can make gains just as much or as quickly using only machines. Or are free weights essential to working out and building muscle?
