Calorie deficit for too long?

Chris 7 years ago updated by Marc Lobliner 7 years ago 1

Hi Marc,

Question for you around length of being in a cut.  I am coming from a higher body fat percentage and have been in a calorie deficit now for just over 12 weeks.  I cut my calories back off my maintenance level and added in cardio after my lifts 2 or 3 times a week to help with a 1 to maybe 2 pound loss per week.

My main question more revolves around time in a caloric deficit though.  I know I will need to be in a caloric deficit longer to get down to the body fat percentage I want to be at.  But, are there potentially any drawbacks to being a caloric deficit for this long or longer periods of time?

Vitamin overdosing, is it a real concern?

hagerman r 7 years ago updated by Marc Lobliner 7 years ago 1

Taking a bodybuilding specific multi-vitamin which already has hefty doses of almost all vitamins/minerals, plus 5000 IU vitamin D, and then my actual diet.. should i be concerned about excess of fat soluble vitamins or any of them?

Old guy and supplements

Jeffrey Waters 7 years ago updated by andy 7 years ago 3

hey mark I am 47 years old and been working out for 1 year. I have made great progress in strength and seem to show a lot of detail in my muscle but as for gain they seem to be very little and I am really pushing myself in the gym. My question is because of my age should I take a testosterone booster to help or what? My strength gain are something like I started last may so my bench went from 105 for very little reps to this may I am pushing 265 for 3 rep max. Can you give me any insight on this?

Are sugar alcohols healthy and how do you track them as far as calories?

Sean 7 years ago updated by andy 7 years ago 2

Is it healthy to consume sugar alcohols when trying to keep carbs low? Most sugar free products have them and they also don't seem to add up in the calorie total. Are they "free macros"?

They DO count as carbs, no matter what those hippies say! They are "healthy", but THEY COUNT!
