Most Effective Cardio

Zak Boxer 7 years ago updated by andy 7 years ago 3

What's your opinion of HIIT vs steady state cardio? Why would you do one over the other and what time of the day do you believe is optimal?

Answer

I believe the best cardio for health is TABATA and then add in Low intensity for caloric burn. Time of day is 100% irrelevant.

Testicular cancer survivor having trouble making gains

Chris Brommund 7 years ago updated by andy 7 years ago 2

I'm a 14yr stage 4 testicular cancer survivor having problems making gains. My diet is clean and I make sure I get enough protein, carbs, and healthy fats(try to anyway). I have low T and cortisol issues that I have a Dr  appt for on June 16. I had half my right lung removed because the cancer had spread and my Dr wants me doing cardio for 30 mins 5 days a week. Is it at all possible to put on lean muscle while stil pushing myself as hard as I possibly can and having to do this much cardio? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks Marc.

It is possible, and you can gain lean mass with hours of cardio a day IF you eat enough to compensate for the cardio caloric burn.

Overdosing Protein Post-Workout

Levente 7 years ago updated by Marc Lobliner 7 years ago 1

I am wondering if it is really beneficial double or even triple scooping your Protein Powder after working out.

Lot of people I know take 2-3 scoops of Protein Powder post-workout.

Is it not too much at once?

And can your body really absorb all the protein or are you just consuming unnecessary calories and wasting your money?

What is the max number of Tabata sessions I should do each session/week?

Sean 8 years ago updated by andy 7 years ago 2

I want to maximize fat loss and I know Tabata is equal to a much longer amount of steady state, so I would prefer to do this style of cardio, but how many Tabata sessions are too much? Any recommendations for cardio programming?

How much sleep do you believe is adequate for muscle recovery and what is your opinion on sleep supplements such as ZMA and Melatonin? Are you working on any upcoming products?

Do testosterone boosters aid in anabolic response regardless of your age? Are there more benefits with this type of supplement after a certain age?

Mitchell Hawes 7 years ago updated 7 years ago 2

Hi I am 21 years old and seeing if test boosters are worth the money. I know my levels are probably the highest they will be regarding my age, but if I take them, will they put me in a more anabolic environment?

How to get someone you care about to workout and eat healthy

Ryan 8 years ago updated by andy 7 years ago 2

My mom is overweight and is considered obese. She works 4 12 hour long days and 1 8 hour day and is very  exhausted  when she gets home. On the weekends she just sits on the couch and relaxes.. I try to get her to exercise even if it's to just go out for a walk. Or to have her track her food and eat a bit healthier. She wants no part of it. She realizes she's overweight and knows that she needs to change it but is to "lazy".  What can I try to do besides educate her about the importance of eating healthy and exercising ?

Hey Ryan, All you can do is tell her you love her and want her to live longer. BUT, if she isn't motivated to do it herself, you harping on it will just strain your relationship

lower stomach bloating

aleccarruthers5 7 years ago updated by Patrick 7 years ago 1

Hello Marc,

I am 5'10 and 140ish pounds. I am trying to gain strength right now and have noticed that I have made some strides in the right direction recently. However, my lower stomach sticks out significantly further than my upper and middle stomach regions. I do have some lower ab fat, but when I press on my lower stomach it feels very hard(not just fat). I was wondering if this lower ab protrusion could be caused from bad posture when sitting, i.e. hunching over, or maybe eating too much fiber? I know answering this question may be difficult, but I am really just looking for the primary causes of lower stomach bloating/protrusion to see if I am doing any of those things.

Thank you

Alec
